NaNoWriMo is a marathon 30 days worth of writing with a view to writing 1667 words a day, totalling up 50,000 words total for the month. It’s hard and can be gruelling at times. You might be tempted to skip important things like meals, showers, or sleep.
Please don’t.
Yes, your word count matters. Yes, you want to get to 50k, but you don’t need to do it to the detriment of your health.
If you’re having trouble meeting your word count, try breaking it into smaller chunks throughout the day. 500, 500, 700.
Write 500 words and go for a walk. Write another 500 words and have a nice, hot bath. Write your final 700 words and go to bed early. Use facemasks, dance it out, have a glass of wine.
Just, remember to take care of yourself. There’s no point steamrolling ahead in the first week just to crash and burn and lose a few days in the second week.
