Victor Vale – Vicious
“We’re all immortal until proved otherwise.”
I bought this book after accidentally purchasing the Illumicrate V.E.Schwab edition box thinking I was subscribing to their normal subscription boxes…. BEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. Since I found out that the Illumicrate box was going to have a copy of Vengeful in it, I figured that I should probably grab a copy of Vicious as well to read beforehand.
I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump lately, but I devoured this book in just a few days.
Vicious centers around Eli Cardale and Victor Vale and jumps back and forth between present day with Victor searching for Eli to get his revenge for having been shot and sent to prison by his ‘friend’ and ten years ago when they were both students at Lockland University working on Eli’s thesis trying to prove the existence, and eventually creation, of EO’s (ExtraOrdinaries).
This book is fast paced, and each time jump gives you just enough information to make you want to keep going on to the next chapter so you can find out what happens next time it jumps back. The characters all intertwine wonderfully, especially as the story starts to reach it’s climax.
What I absolutely love about this book is the fact that Vale is meant to be the villain, yet I found myself siding with him more so than the ‘Hero’, something which I feel is rarely done in books. I absolutely cannot wait to move on to the next book!
